Synopsis
During the summer of 1974, a young man comes of age amid the
rusting desolation of Santutxu, an industrial quarter of Bilbao, with
Franco still alive and the ripe political and social conflicts of the time.
Asier, a colour-blind teenager, wants to paint a portrait of the girl he’s
in love with. To do the painting, he doesn’t want help from his father,
Andrés, a well-known amateur painter. Andrés hasn’t had much luck
with his sons. The eldest, Mateo, has a real talent for painting, but loses
interest in it, much to the father’s distress. And the younger one has
been trying to sort out colours since he was a child, but to no avail.
He gets them hopelessly confused. Asier turns Mateo, who agrees to
teach him for pay. And, while Mateo lacks interest, his strong character
makes his lessons vivid and intense, much to his regret.

Synopsis
This film follows the ups and downs of a tragic hero, one of the
thousands of gauchos that were recruited to fight against the native
Indians at the Argentinean border of Patagonia during the late 19th
century. The narrative structure fits in with the western genre: the
gauchos are recruited to rob the Indians of their land. Civilization
then moves in on the conquered territories, totally wiping out the
gauchos and their way of life.
