6. Work on the movie. After the screening, 47
you can turn to your teaching guide for
several questions and activities to be
carried out in class. All of this aim to invite
reflection and encourage learning as a
group. Guides also include suggestions
for narrative analysis of key sequences (for
these, it may be useful to rewatch scenes
a second time) and a short article covering
fundamental concepts included in the
guide. These can be used to build towards
an activity.
7. Complete activity, by pointing your
students to additional resources related
to the movie and its educational message.
This will allow them to consolidate the
knowledge they gained during viewing. In
addition to our recommendations, you can
also incorporate any resources or activities
of your own that you think may be suitable.
8. Feel free to be creative: The teaching
guide is a tool to help draw out the movie’s
educational content, but the key to each
activity will always be its teacher! Teachers
should feel free to choose films according
to their own criteria and to guide movie
viewing towards their own educational
goals. It will be up to them to define the
educational value of each movie and the
lesson their students take away. That’s
what makes cinema such a fantastic tool
for teaching!
